The castle of Jabrin is a magnificent piece of Omani architecture. It is located in the town of Jabrin in the Ad-Dakhliyah region of Oman. It was built in 1670 as a defence fort and residence of Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Ya’arubi. The duality of purpose of this castle led to an impressive architectural style that is robust yet elegant. It comprises 55 rooms spread across three floors with intricate carvings and paintings. The tomb of the former ruler is situated within the castle. After years in oblivion, the building was restored in 1982.
