A cluster of artistic venues is only growing as preparations for the Sheikh Zayed National Museum come into place. The series of 125-metre high aerodynamic towers both represent the wings of a falcon and use traditional wind power methods to help cool the building. The Sheikh Zayed National Museum, named after the late Emirati ruler, is an exciting example of the blend of new technology and old traditions preserving the past while embracing the future. For a taste of what’s to come, guests can visit the Manarat Al Saadiyat, a purpose built visitors’ centre that displays the exciting projects being created on the ‘island of enlightenment’ (the Arabic meaning of Manarat Al Saadiyat) including a contemporary art gallery, landscaped garden and 250-seat state-of-the-art auditorium designed to host Manarat Al Saadiyat’s performing arts program.
